C2SS - for Delaware

The C2SS was an operational test designed to demonstrate the feasibility of
collecting sample (or long-form type) information at the same time as, but
separately from the decennial census. It used the American Community Survey
questionnaire and methodology to collect demographic, social, economic and
housing data from a sample of 700,000 households nationwide (excluding group quarters facilities). The C2SS is not a substitute for Census 2000 sample
(or long form) data, which will not be available until 2002. Its data is
not a substitute for income and poverty numbers from the Current Population
Survey (CPS) or unemployment rates estimated by state employment security
agencies such as the New Jersey Department of Labor in conjunction with the
US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The C2SS survey results nonetheless may give
us some insight into what the Census 2000 long-form data will show us about
who we are, where we live and what we do.
